Entrevista abierta a Wada-san

Wada-san es un compañero de trabajo que se ha ofrecido para ser entrevistado por vosotros.¡Es vuestra oportunidad para preguntar a un japonés todo lo que se os ocurra! Las normas son las siguientes:

Algunos datos: Wada-san está casado, tiene algo más de 40 años, trabajó en Yahoo Japan y ahora trabaja en Technorati Japan, en sus tiempos libres toca el teclado en meido kissas en Akihabara.

No tuve esas máquinas pero solia jugar con mi Toshiba de 8 bits con procesador Z80 a 4Mhz.

¿Te gusta Dragon Quest?

No soy un fan acérrimo pero recuerdo pasar muy buenos ratos jugando al Dragon Quest V en la Super Famicom de un amigo.

¿Cuantos lenguajes de programación has usado?

C++, Perl, PHP, Javascript, bash, Java, VB, Common Lisp, BASIC, HyperTalk, FORTRAN, PL/I, Pascal, Prolog, Z80 Assembler. También conozco algo: D, Ruby, Python, C#, Delphy, Smalltalk, Haskell, Forth, Ada, COBOL, SNOBOL; pero no soy realmente un experto con ellos.

  13. Lei un articulo sobre los salariman, que son personas que entran a trabajar en una empresa desde jóvenes y duran toda la vida y confoirme se hacen viejos en la empresa suben de puesto y salario, y se que ahora estan desapareciendo, alguna ves pensaste ser un salariman?

    En el mismo arituculo decia que una ves dentro de la empresa si decidias cambiar de empresa o renunciar, era muy dificil conseguir trabajo en otra empresa porque te veian algo asi como un traidor y una persona en la que no se puede fiar del todo, Como fue tu transición de Yahoo Japan al lugar donde estar ahora?, que problemas tuviste?

    Aqui en el blog de kirai lei que los japoneses tiene poco sexo con sus esposas porque pasan a hacer algo asi como sus hermanas, tu como ves a tu esposa? tienes todo el sexo que quisieras? crees que tu esposa tiene todo el sexo que necesita? ( bueno esta pregunta si que esta pasada pero como se ha prestado, siento como si le preguntara a mi amigo, una disculpa de antemano)

    Cual es tu sentir sobre el Japon que los conservadores quieren mantener y el Japon que se abre a nuevas cultura y formas de pensar?

    Si tienes hijos piensas enfocarlos a que trabajen porque es su deber conseguir un trabajo y hacerlo lo mejor que se puedan o piensas apoyarlos para que encuentren un trabajo en un lugar que disfruten trabajar?

  17. Hi, Wada-san, I have some questions but are all related, It’s ok to summarize all when answering.

    How it was for you the finnancial bubble of some years ago?, Did it had any effect on your previsions for getting a home?, Do people around you pay mortgages or pay rents?, How much (like a percentage) of the salary goes into that (either the mortgage or the rent)?, Do you share that expense with your wife? (if your wife is working, which I don’t know)

    I hope it’s not too embarasing for you. If it is, don’t mind I’m sure there will be more questions from other people.

  21. Mi inglés no es muy bueno actualmente ( cuestión de no tener la obligación de usarlo, aunque en breves me pondré duro con él, al igual que con el japonés ), así que planteo mi pregunta en español:

    ¿ Realmente el ritmo de vida en Japón es tan estresante como se ve desde fuera ?. Mi meta es conseguir ir a Japón y establecerme, pero me gustaría saber el horario medio de trabajo al día, cuántos días a la semana y cuanto tiempo de vacaciones se suele tener.

    Espero no haber sido demasiado extenso, y abrigo la esperanza que se esta una de las preguntas escogidas.

    I really want to know what do you think about the story of the wars in Japan, specially the WW II, the implications of the atomic bomb in the cultural manifestations (including comics, of course), and the possible resurging of the army in your country.

Que pasa Wada-san, for me traditions and cultural stuff is very important, so, in times of global interchange, internet has been such a major influence like Hector who is showing us spanish speaking people how japanese live and how they use to do certain things, my question, how do you see teenagers in Japan? they seem to be loosing interest in their culture, their language and some traditions; please, your opinion about it
    In the same line to the last question, are you critic to modern japanese society? do you try to fit, you already fit, or you simply don´t give a damn to fit in. XD

  49. Hi Wada-san, this is Jonathan, from Barcelona. I’m living in China and i would like to ask you two questions if you don’t mind.

    First, how is it nowadays the feeling about chinese people? i mean, mainly chinese people dislike or even hate Japan, nowadays is more a matter of propaganda than real feelings, because the actual generation didn’t live the war. But what about the japanese feeling, furthermore now that China is growing up so quickly and becoming more and more powerful

    And second question, is famous than japanese are pretty open mind and like «weird» things when have sex (use some toys and such kind of things and please, don’t understand weirds as bad, just not that usual for westerns), is it true? if it’s the truth, is it the same with the couple or just with love affairs?

    By the way, you are married but do you have any son or daugther? if not, may we know why? (oh, sorry, finally one extra question, hehe)

  56. The last week on T.V. said that younger japanese could read kanji fine, but they didn’t know how to write it. Thsy say that most of them write japanese en computer, so kanji are not written, but choosen.

    First question: Do you mind it?

    Second question: Do you believe japanese language would have less kanji in the future?

    What are the stereotypes in Japan about Spanish people? The Spanish stereotype about Japanese people is that you’re always taking photos, but it’d be nice to hear the opposite (by the way, Kirai is always taking photos to everything, so he must have become Japanese by now 😛 )

    Those are the two that I’d like to see answered… The dotcom bubble in japan and the mobile phone networks would be also cool…

    As a fellow technology worker/student/interested person, how open are the technology careers(jobs) in japan to foreigners? About what standards are the most commonly asked for a good job in the general technological area (requirements, example, 4 years of study in … etc etc). What is currently the most demanded position in the technological scene in japan jobs. Example programmers or system analysts stuff like that.

  71. Con que frequencia suele ir a segundas residencias? i a que distancia estan de su casa en caso que tenga segundas residencias. i cuanto tarda en llegar? por ejemplo aqui en hinvierno casi cada fin de semana suelo ir a esquiar (140Km – 1:30 h) i en verano a la playa (60Km – 1:30 h).
    Esta pregunta podria contestarla en su caso particular i/o en caso de la mayoria de japoneses.

    he visto en GTO, que Okinawa seria para los japoneses el equivalente a la costa braba para los barceloneses o el caribe para los americanos. con la diferencia que el caribe suelen ser hoteles mientras que aqui en catalunya suelen ser apartamentos. Okinawa es en plan hoteles o en plan apartamentos ?

Hola!, Wada-San me gustaria saber si alli la gente sabe mucho mas de informatica que aqui, la sociedad de alli parece mucho mas avanzada, pero nose si por ejemplo saben arreglarse su pc cuando tienen algun problema y no son como el tipico español que no sabe casi nada de informatica y se lo pregunta al amigo que sabe xD.
    Y tambien me gustaria saber si alli la gente sabe lo que es linux y si saben utilizarlo la mayoria, aqui desgraciadamente hay muxisima gente que no sabe ni lo que es linux..:(

    I’m studying Tourism, and right now I’m having practices for being a Tour Guide in one of the most touristic cities of Spain. Lots of Japanese people visit us everyday, and I’m completely amazed on how polite, how tender and interested in culture they are. (although «japanese english» is so peculiar!)
    I want to thank all japanese people for relieving us of nasty and noisy tourists who don’t care about culture and history.

    And here are my question:
    ¿which are the 5 places in Japan a Japanese would recommend, out of overvisited places, out of touristic attractions and stereotypes? I’d love to visit Japan in a couple of years, so I’d appreciate a japanese person’s advice.

    ante todo pedir disculpas por expresarme en español, pero la verdad es que si escribo en inglés se puede liar la de dios.
    Me gustaría saber ¿CÓMO SE LIGA EN JAPÓN? Y no es que me quiera currar a un japonés ni nada de esto. Es simplemente curiosidad porque eso cambia en todas partes, ahora estoy viviendo en Italia y las conductas respecto al ligue son distintas a las de España, así q imagino que en un país con una conducta totalmente distinta a la occidental también cambiará no?.

  93. I have a wide question/s.

    I wonder about sexual and social life in Japan, I always noticed low sexual life in Japan compared to the rest of the world. I don’t know why, but I think maybe one of the reasons is that Japanese girls don’t have so attractive bodies, although they are usually very cute.

    The other thing about social life there, is about people being usually so introverted, and showing always a happy/polite face to people. I think Japanese guys usually put that polite side over the other things and thinkings.

    And now the questions: What it’s your point of view of this? How is it for you comparing it to other social acting of people from other countries? How are the relationships in Japan?

    ¿te sientes identificado con tu país? ¿te sientes japonés? ¿te sientes plenamente integrado como individuo en tu cultura-sociedad? (como me decían en el cole, razona la respuesta)
    Lo pregunto básicamente porque uno, por el mero hecho de nacer en tal o cual sitio no tiene por qué sentirse arraigado o conforme. Ya sabes, espíritu libre, etc.

    Y ya de paso: pareces mucho más joven en la foto ¿cual es el secreto? ¿será efecto del Mac-book?

However, is there any future for professionals after forty ?, or otherwise and very much like Spain, the tech companies live on “fresh flesh” and unless you move to management roles, you can say as a golden rule: what you haven’t been able to archive before being thirty, forget about archiving it after becoming forty years old !.

    Como trabajador de una tecnologica ¿que tal ves el tema dentro de tu país como fuera de él? Nuevas potencias están surgiendo en muchos otros paises y con una mano de obra bastante más barata.

    Japón desde hace bastantes años ha invertido en ID D, sus Universidades, en que sus nuevas generaciones tuviesen una buena base en su educación para que el país seguramente no se quedase atrás a la hora de seguir siendo una potencia. ¿Crees que muchos paises estancados como España que no invierten lo suficiente les pasarán la mano por delante pronto y solo les quedarán los lamentos?

    Mis preguntas van en español, ya que es el idioma que más o menos entiendo bien :-).
    1.- ¿Que opinas de los occidentales, principalmente de los españoles y latinoamericanos, que sienten un gran interés por Japón que incluso llegan a desear haber nacido en Japón o ser japoneses?
    2.- ¿Cual es tu posición respecto a los otros países de Asia? Por ejemplo, sientes cierta superioridad ante China o temor por Corea del Norte, etc?
    3.- Crees que el nivel de «cultura» de la mayoría de los japoneses es más alta que el del resto de los países (principalmente de España y Latinoamérica)? Yo he conocido muchos japoneses y la gran mayoría de ellos leen bastante, me da la impresión que la lectura para ellos es algo tan natural como dormir o respirar. ¿Porque los japoneses leen tanto?
    4.- ¿Que figuras o personajes públicos de Japón te impactaron en tu infancia y adolescencia?
    5.- ¿Crees que los jóvenes japoneses sienten desprecio e incluso odio por las generaciones anteriores? Digo esto ya que los mas jóvenes son la generación que no vivió la posguerra y por lo tanto talvez no asumen la derrota (tan fácilmente) ya que no conocen la historia correcta de lo que hizo Japón en la guerra. También porque son la generación que nació (y sigue viviendo) durante la “recesión” económica de Japón y esto ha afectado a sus relaciones familiares.
    6.- Aunque cada vez haya más gente que escribe sobre la vida en Japón, muy poco se sabe de la política y del gobierno japones. ¿Los japoneses son políticamente activos? ¿Que opinan sobre su gobierno?
    7.- En mi opinión los japoneses tienen una cualidad muy interesante: son muy responsables con sus tareas y asumen correctamente el rol que desempeñan. Cuando visité Japón me pareció que todos los empleados de tiendas y restaurantes eran felices y cumplían con diligencia su trabajo, pero seguramente muchos no estaban contentos con su situacion, pero igual trabajaban bien. ¿Crees que mi opinión es correcta? ¿En verdad los japoneses pueden llegar a conformarse con la situación y trabajan (o hacen lo que deben hacer) incluso cuando no se sienten felices?
    8.- ¿En verdad es difícil ser realmente amigo de un japonés? ¿Es Héctor tu amigo o solo un compañero de trabajo?.
    Mmmm creo que ya son muchas… espero que al menos una sea seleccionada 🙂 y perdón por preguntar tanto.

    Básicamente preguntaba su opinión sobre la vida social y sexual japonesa. En el aspecto de la cara cordial que muestran a la gente anteponiendo ese lado cordial y amable a cualquier otro tipo de sentimiento, y cuál es su punto de visto en comparación de esto respecto a la actitud en el resto de países, donde se es más amigable o sincero en ese punto.

    Y respecto a la sexual, cómo son allí las relaciones, y qué diferencias ve con el resto de culturas, ya que parecen bastante más recatados y que el tema sexual es bastante tabú, y son muy reservados sexualmente.

    Eso era mas o menos…

    I am interested in knowing about friendship and relationships between japanese young people ( I think youth includes 40 years old people too) and foreigners, europeans for example.
    Is it possible a real communication? I try to understand your way of living and I am afraid there are big differences with spanish culture. Here almost everybody is open minded to speak and show themselves to a foreigner, but in Japan…maybe it is only a matter of patient and time. Could you please tell me about the borderline between been patient or being an annoying person?

    Those special limits in behaviour are so delicate and smooth that only a japanese person can explain them.
